I paint and draw. The works I create explore inconsistencies and look at beauty in the commonplace. Wanting to make connection, I have always been pulled to the peculiar and love the power of a line, the intensity of paint.
As a child, the act of drawing, of moving a crayon across a surface making line and shape, the “feel” of that, filled me up. Connection and immersion happen when color, line, smudges, drips and marks move in and out of layers of paint to create shape and space. I use representation, combined with a kind of stream-of-consciousness mark-making, to create images which bring out the beauty of common objects and how they might relate to one another
